Leadership

Pastor Barry Anderson

Welcome to

Our New Interim Pastor

Our prayers have been answered.  We are full of Praise and Thanksgiving for our God reigns!   He has brought to us a wonderful Christ-centered, Biblically-grounded, and Holy Spirit-led pastor to lead our congregation in this time of transition.

It is with much joy and great enthusiasm that we announce that Pastor Barry Anderson has become our Interim Pastor.  The Interim Pastor Nominating Committee (IPNC) and the Board of Session are unanimously excited that the Lord has brought him to us.   Pastor Barry has a warm and down to earth manner with a HUGE PASSION to serve Jesus Christ, our Lord & Savior.

Pastor Barry is from Iowa.  He is married, has grown children, grandchildren, and has two adopted sons that are still youngsters at home.   We thank his family for sharing this wonderful servant with us for such a time as this.

 Pastor Nominating Committee (PNC)

A pastor nominating committee has been formed to begin the search for our new lead pastor.  The PNC will be working diligently while "waiting upon the Lord," knowing that he is preparing someone special for us.  The members of the PNC have written a few words for pastoral candidates:

 Ruth Rush (Chairperson)

"I have been a member of this church for 43 years.  It has been the center of my life being able to share the gospel along with my husband and four children.  Most important, through this church, I've been able to share with friends and with the community I live in.  In happy times, in sad times, this body of Christ has always sustained me, fed me and provided me with the opportunity to serve in Jesus' name.  And so I continue to serve as we search for YOU (a pastor) to come, minister to us, share with us, and allow us to grow along with you."

 Ken Taylor (Vice-Chair)

Ken and his wife Sue have been members of FPC Gridley for ten years now.  They have four children, two currently in college, and two on their own.  They volunteer their time operating the sound and projection equipment during Worship Service and Vacation Bible School.  Ken appreciates the trust placed upon him by the congregation in seeking a new Pastor for our church, and looks forward to the new opportunities and challenges that are in store.

Sandy Macfarlane

"This church is everything important to my life!  You see, Jesus brought me here that I might come to know Him as my Savior.  Nine years later, (It's always God's timing, you know.) He brought my husband for the same reason.  Jesus Christ is the Lord, and head of our church.  Our church is much more than buildings.  We are a part of the body of Christ.  Yes, our sanctuary is indeed God's House of Prayers; our classrooms are used to share God's word; our social hall and lawn areas allow fellowship to be shared.  But it's God's people that worship God here that truly manifest our church and exhibit what it means to be in the family of CHRIST."

Curt Aldridge

"I was raised in Live Oak, just down the road from Gridley.  I live in the country with my beautiful wife Gina and our four wonderful kids Charles, Chance, Chase and Shelby.  I have been a member of FPC for a few years and I would like to tell you why I joined this church.

It started a long time ago when I went to see my kids perform at church events like VBS and Sunday School.  A great deal of prayer was offered up for me from my wife and from my neighbors, the Tanabe's.  When I started to attend regularly, I was blessed by the most amazing people I had ever met; people that cared about you like they had known you for years.  One day, Ken Taylor invited me to the men's Bible study.  He overheard me mention to my wife that I didn't even have a Bible.  Ken turned around, took papers out of his Bible and gave it to me on the spot.  Since I had a Bible and a place to go and learn about it, there were no more excuses.  I have been going to this Bible study for four years now and have not missed many of them.  God truly works through each and every one of us.  God bless us all as we admire His glory and power."

Melene Lockhart

"I have been a part of this church for 28 years through an invitation to VBS.  It is a priviledge to be a part of the body of Christ and I love the Lord with all my heart.  I delight in teaching and sharing God's word and I look for those opportunities that God provides to glorify Him!  He is an awesome God!

I am married to Steve and we have three grown children who have blessed us with seven grandchildren and oneon the way.  I am praying for whom the Lord is raising up to serve at this church."

Jackie Biggs

"When I came to this church, I fell in love with the warmth and closeness living in the hearts of every church member.  I felt welcomed and encouraged to continue my relationship with God, through Bible studies and Sunday worship.  I continue to learn and grow here, in service to Christ and the church and by keeping in prayer with my Lord and Savior."

Mission Study.  As part of out pastor search, our church has gone through the process of completing a Mission Study.  This research of our history, our present and our future has helped us to define who we are in the Lord Jesus Christ, what He has taught us and who He wants us to become.  This information is meant to help us in our search for a pastoral candidate and also to assist potential candidates as to who we are.  Click on the link to read the 2007 Mission Study.  2007 Mission Study PDF
